Sri Lanka Tourism is gearing up to launch its inaugural comprehensive global public relations (PR) and digital campaign, targeting 15 key identified markets to boost the sector.
The initiative, slated to kick off on 15 May, marks a significant milestone for the industry, with the first phase focusing on five key markets which include; India, the UK, France, Germany and China. The second phase will be launched in the latter half of the year, with a specific focus on Russia, the UAE and Scandinavian countries.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) Managing Director Nalin Perera expressed confidence in the strategic roadmap outlined for 2024.
“We are confident in the stability and strategic nature of the plan,” he said, asserting that they would only consider deviations in response to changes in market dynamics.
In addition to the campaign rollout, Perera revealed plans to host a series of international events in prominent locations across the country, aimed at repositioning Sri Lanka as a vibrant tourist destination.
Among the notable events scheduled is the Colombo Air Show, slated to take place from 29 May to 2 June in Colombo, with the support of regional partners. He also said that they participated at the biggest Marine Tourism Expo held in Singapore to learn more about promoting Sri Lanka’s Marine Tourism in a similar way.
Furthermore, discussions are underway to organise a special edition of the renowned Colombo Fashion Week, featuring a glamorous ramp walk set against the iconic backdrop of Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient rock fortress.
As the industry braces for recovery following multiple challenges posed by the global pandemic and local challenges, these initiatives aid in reshaping the country’s tourism landscape.
