Sri Lanka is rolling out a campaign on the ‘You’ll come back for more’ slogan, targeting both first time and repeat visitors, which will be backed up by short term and long term.
Primary target markets for the global campaign are UK, Germany, France, India, China, Australia, Russia, the Middle East, and Scandinavia, according to a statement.
The global campaigning will be accompanied by a domestic market campaign to ready Sri Lankans to welcome travelers.
A third promotion campaign will target Sri Lanka’s diaspora around the world to encourage holidays to their homeland with friends and family.
Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau said about 30 percent of the travellers were repeat visitors from India an Europe.
The first phase of the thematic campaign will debut in four key markets – India, China, Russia, and Australia in 2023.
This will be followed by the launch of a more extensive long-term campaign focused on 14 key markets in January 2024.
A statement from the President’s Media Division (PMD) said the policy was prepared after extensive study by experts in the field and has been forwarded to the cabinet.
Tourism in Sri Lanka has seen marked improvement since the 2022 financial crisis and the political unrest it triggered.
