A special luxury tourist train will be introduced from Colombo Fort to Kandy from Saturday, 01st October, Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardena announced.
The minister said that the tourist train that will operate every weekend will leave Colombo Fort at 6.30 am and is scheduled to reach Kandy at 9.18 am.
The train will also operate from Kandy at 4.50 pm and arrive at Colombo Fort railway station at 7.40 pm.
A first-class ticket cost will be Rs.2000/- and a 2nd class ticket cost will be Rs.1500/-.
The new tourist train is being introduced for the benefit of tourists who come to worship and pay reverence to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and visit the Peradeniya Flower Garden.
The Minister also revealed that a special luxury tourist train is expected to operate from Fort to Anuradhapura soon.
