Luxury Hospitality Chain Minor Hotels Expands to Sri Lanka with NH Collection Colombo and Upcoming Bentota Property

Luxury hotel group Minor Hotels has expanded its presence in Sri Lanka by introducing two new properties: NH Collection Colombo and a property in Bentota (details to be announced soon). This marks the debut of Minor Hotels’ upscale and upper-upscale brands in the country.

Following an agreement with owner Softlogic Holdings, Minor Hotels will manage both properties.

NH Collection Colombo Debuts in the Heart of the City

The first to open its doors on June 1st is NH Collection Colombo. Ideally situated in Colombo’s center, the hotel offers easy access to key landmarks like Liberty Arcade, the Indian Ocean, the National Museum, Independence Square, and Pettah Market, all within a 10-minute drive. Bandaranaike International Airport is a 45-minute drive away.

This luxurious five-star hotel features 219 spacious rooms and suites, ranging from 33 to a whopping 254 sqm, including Colombo’s largest Presidential Suite. Floor-to-ceiling windows grace every room, providing breathtaking views of the city or the Indian Ocean.

Culinary Experiences and Unwinding Options

NH Collection Colombo caters to diverse palates with six dining options. Guests can choose from international all-day dining, specialty Indian, Thai, and Japanese restaurants. A rooftop bar offers stunning panoramic sunsets over the ocean, while a cafe and lounge provide additional relaxation spots near the lobby.

For business travelers and event planners, the hotel boasts modern meeting and event spaces that can accommodate up to 200 attendees. These include two banquet facilities, five meeting rooms, and a boardroom.

Those seeking wellness can rejuvenate at the state-of-the-art gym, take a dip in the rooftop infinity pool, or indulge in pampering treatments at the spa.

Nestled on Sri Lanka’s west coast, just 1.5 hours south of Colombo, Centara Ceysands Resort & Spa boasts a prime location between the Bentota River and the Indian Ocean. This stunning resort, opening its doors on July 1st, offers a variety of rooms and suites, ranging from cozy 37sqm spaces to luxurious 139sqm retreats.

Unwind by the expansive swimming pool with breathtaking ocean vistas, or partake in exciting water sports offered by the on-site center. For ultimate relaxation, visit the resort’s spa, while younger guests can have fun at the dedicated kid’s club. When it comes to dining, Centara Ceysands Resort & Spa caters to every craving. Choose from five restaurants and bars, including an all-day international option, specialty Thai and seafood restaurants, a cafe serving light bites, and a poolside bar for refreshing drinks.

“Sri Lankan tourism witnessed an impressive rebound in 2023, more than doubling its arrivals in the past year. This strong momentum has continued into the first quarter of this year, and arrivals are projected to surpass pre-pandemic levels and nearing or even exceeding 2018’s record high. We are excited to be part of this recovery and look forward to capitalising on the pent-up demand with our partner Softlogic Holdings through these new NH Collection and NH properties.”

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International

“We are delighted to collaborate with Minor Hotels to manage our property in Colombo, Sri Lanka. NH Collection Colombo Hotel and NH Bentota Ceysands Resort add to Minor Hotels’ growing portfolio in Sri Lanka, joining Anantara Kalutara Resort, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, and Avani Kalutara Resort. This expansion strengthens Minor Hotels’ presence with over 90 NH Collection properties and 230 NH hotels and resorts worldwide. The additions highlight Minor Hotels’ global strategy of expanding the NH Collection and NH brands across the Middle East, Indian Ocean, Asia, and Australia.

This rewrite clarifies the relationship between the NH Collection and NH brands and Minor Hotels. It also emphasizes the global aspect of the expansion.
