Sri Lankan cultural performances at the Atrium stage

Sri Lanka was able to create a positive image on the minds of those who visited the Sri Lanka stall at the CMT 2020 Germany, which was held from 11 to 19 January in Landesmesse in Stuttgart. CMT being the largest consumer fair in Germany, has been identified as the best international platform for the industry to conduct B2C meetings with the prospective German travellers and also more publicity for their respective companies.

India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Dominican Republic were among the countries who were present at CMT 2020. CMT expects around 260,000 foot falls in every year and out of 36,000 are trade visitors (B2B) and 224,000 visitors are B2C visitors. Sri Lanka representation at CMT is important as it addresses end customers whereas ITB is focused on trade.

SLTPB was greatly supported by Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin and Sri Lanka Consulate in Frankfurt to organise this event successfully. The Sri Lanka stand at the event was officially inaugurated by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Germany Karunasena Hettiarachchi and Consul General of Sri Lanka Consulate in Frankfurt Madurika Weninger. Consul Generals of Sri Lanka in Stuttgart and Radolfzell also graced the event.

B2C sessions were held at the Sri Lanka stand where the travel oriented visitors could discuss their travel plans with their Sri Lanka industry representatives.

The most highlighted items which attracted the visitors was the Tea Bar serving the famous Ceylon Tea, the food tasting counter giving the visitors to taste Sri Lanka cuisine, cultural performances which were shown at the Sri Lanka stand, the photo booth and the quiz competition. Sri Lanka was given the opportunity to perform at the Atrium stage in front of a huge audience, to depict its cultural performance and to promote ‘So Sri Lanka’ brand at the mega back drop banner of the stage.

Sri Lanka also carried out a separate campaign to promote Sri Lanka among visitors by placing Sri Lanka Tourism branding on mega banners at the main entrances to the fair as well as at the entrance gates to the hall no. 08 in which Sri Lanka stall is located.
