Sri Lanka’s Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has announced that the country has welcomed 1,804,873 tourists so far this year, bringing it closer to its goal of reaching 2.3 million arrivals by the end of 2024.
According to the latest data, Sri Lanka recorded 184,158 tourist arrivals from November 1 to November 30. The third week of November saw the highest spike in arrivals, with 42,376 visitors recorded on the peak day.
India topped the list of tourist origins, contributing 41,120 visitors to Sri Lanka’s tourism, followed by the Russian Federation, which accounted for 29,053 arrivals.
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has reported a significant rise in tourism earnings, reaching USD 272.9 million in November 2024, a notable increase from USD 205.3 million in the same month last year.
For the period from January to November 2024, total tourism earnings have reached USD 2.8 billion, marking a robust 56% growth compared to USD 1.7 billion during the same period in 2023.
