Global giant Plateno has signed its fourth hotel this year in Sri Lanka with Welcome Regency Ltd., for the 102-room resort in Passikudah to be branded the Portofino Ming Gee Resort Passikuda. Portofino Brand is the luxury collection of city hotels, resorts and serviced apartments perfect for guests who are used to luxurious lifestyles and exquisite service and facilities.
Located at the centre of the beautiful Passikudah Bay on an untouched stretch of white sandy beach, the resort has the largest swimming pool in Passikudah as well as two restaurants and bars, a spa and a fully-equipped water sports and dive centre.
Known to have one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world, the coastal community of Passikudah is about 35km northwest of Batticaloa. The resort is about five hours away from Colombo by road but is a day’s excursion away from heritage sites in the centre of the country. The resort opens in November 2015 and is the second Portofino in Sri Lanka for Plateno.
Plateno Hotels Group was founded in 2005 in China, starting with the 7 Days Inn brand. Within a short period Plateno now ranks seventh globally in a survey conducted by Hotels Magazine, with a total of more than 3,500 hotels and more than 440,000 rooms in 340 different destinations.
The long-term growth plan includes global and regional expansion – in Australia and the Asian region – Plateno Hotels Group opened its regional office in Jakarta. Its brands are well matched for the Australian and Asian markets. Maison Albar, Portofino and H12 hotels all provide a full-service luxury lodging experience. ZMAX, James Joyce Coffetel and Lavande Hotels all provide a midscale select service lodging experience. 7 Days Premium and 7 Days Inn offer a design-driven lifestyle experience at an affordable price.
