Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore together with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau facilitated Sri Lanka’s participation at the Travel Fair – 2019 organised by the National Association of Travel Agents of Singapore (NATAS) from 22 to 24 February.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion at the travel fair was inaugurated by lighting the traditional oil lamp by Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore O.L. Ameer Ajwad, NATAS President Steven Ler, NATAS Secretary General Charles Tan and NATAS General Manager Mohammed Ismail on 22 February. The Acting High Commissioner presented Sri Lanka Tourism mementoes to the President, Secretary General and the General Manager of NATAS as tokens of appreciation.
NATAS is an industry-led organisation representing the travel agents in Singapore. NATAS Travel Fair is the largest travel fair in Singapore where a record-breaking attendance by over 100,000 visitors participate annually. NATAS 2019 was attended by travel agents, hotels and resorts, airlines, cruises, attractions and national tourism promotion organisations in the region.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion at NATAS 2019 was represented by six companies from Sri Lanka including two travel companies and four hotel companies namely Aitken Spence, Esna Holidays, Club Waskaduwa Beach Resort & Spa, Madulkelle Hotels and Lodges Ltd., Theva Residency and Ballys Colombo along with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
Sri Lanka’s participation at this year’s NATAS Travel Fair helped to introduce and promote the new logo ‘So Sri Lanka’ in Singapore. A documentary on Sri Lanka tourism was screened to showcase the diverse tourism products of Sri Lanka. A tea serving counter was organised to attract visitors to the pavilion by positioning Ceylon Tea brand image.
NATAS Travel Fair facilitated a platform for all major travel agencies to sell their travel packages including holiday deals, targeting main holiday destinations around the world. NATAS travel fair witnessed visitors of all ages, backgrounds and travelling styles exploring new destinations and experiences.
