The 27 roomed beachfront resort Taprobana Wadduwa managed by Asia Leisure, a subsidiary of the Asia Capital Group is scheduled to be opened on September 14.
Yasas Nanayakkara, Assistant Manager Sales and Reservations said US$ 7.5 million has been invested in the Taprobana Hotel which would be managed by Asia Leisure. He said the hotel is a joint venture between Asia Capital Group and Japan Capital (Pvt) Ltd and reachable from both the Southern Expressway and the Galle road.
Taprobana is set to use distinctive Asian influences and based on a ‘home away from home’ concept providing stylish comfortable accommodation for guests incisive to experience Lanka’s beauteous beaches and hospitality. With the involvement of Japan Capital (Pvt) Ltd many advanced technologies too would be brought into Sri Lanka and marketed competitively. Asia Leisure owns and operates River House Balapitiya, Tamarind Hill Galle and the Park Street Hotel Colombo. The property in Wadduwa will be the second beach property managed by the company after Taprobana Teoria Balapitiya. Japan Capital (Pvt) Limited was established by Miyoshi and Hamaguchi, Both of them running their own companies in Aichi Prefecture, the third largest commercial city in Japan. Their main business in Japan is real estate business.
