New international bird park and eco-tourism zone established in Hanthana, Kandy will be opened today (20) by President Ranil Wickremesinghe
The Hantana International Bird Park and Recreation Center will be opened at 03:00 pm today, however it will be open to the public from the 23rd February.
Located adjacent to the Hantana Tea Museum premises, this 27-acre exotic bird park and eco-tourism zone is home to over a hundred species of exotic birds.
Its chairman Nishantha Kottegoda said the park consists of birds endemic to foreign countries, migratory birds also has a unit that treats and releases injured birds. Built at a cost of 490 million rupees, almost 100 people are employed at this park to take care of the birds, he further said.Â
