Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Champika Ranawaka recently said that the Water’s Edge in Battaramulla would be expanded in due course. Officials have planned for a hotel complex, sports complex and a recreation area which is scheduled to begin construction this year. Battaramulla will be the main administrative city and Water’s Edge would be a space that would be frequented once it is established.
“We have already begun construction of phase 3 for Sethsiripaya and we expect to commence construction of Sethsiripaya stage 4 this year. We expect to commence construction of the transport centre, mono rail service and supplies of water and electricity. The light train railway is starting from this place,” he said.
