Insight Resort to add more rooms

Insight Resort Ahangama is looking at adding 20 more rooms to meet the growing demand of the both local and foreign clientele. They are hoping to build the additional rooms over the restaurant, giving the best view of the Indian Ocean. The hotel is operated by a veteran and stalwart of the travel industry, Nilmin Nanayakkara who also operates NKAR Travels which is celebrating 35 years of operations. The hotel, thanks to well-focused marketing by Nanayakkara and by participating in almost all leading world travel shows, enjoys high occupancies.

The hotel was built over 25 years ago under the brand name ‘Club Lanka’. It was the first hotel in the area and today due to Nanayakkara’s bold decision to invest in a new location, over 50 hotels have come up in the area and Ahangama is now a major tourist destination.

The Southern highway has also added value to Ahangama as a destination as it only takes 20 minutes to reach Insight Resort from the Galle exit point. The hotel was rebranded as Insight Resort recently and a major refurbishment drive too was completed.

All the 33 rooms were upgraded and new luxuries such as hot and cold water, air conditioning, safety lockers, tea and coffee making facilities, rain showers and other amenities were introduced. Insight Resort is blessed with a beautiful white sand beach frontage and a large garden for guests to unwind and enjoy, offering travelers a getaway from the busy township or city life. The large swimming pool with a separate area for kids, beach bar and ayurveda spa are some of the other attractions of the hotel. Many indoor and outdoor facilities too are being offered at the hotel.

The large restaurant overlooking the ocean, southern food delicacies and also the courteous service from the staff attracts a large repeater clientele. Suresh Fernando, Assistant Resident Manager, Insight Resort said that the hotel is making a name as a preferred venue for both local and foreign weddings.

“We also have a mini conference facility which is being used by Corporate both locally and internationally.” The hotel also organizes tours to Mirissa for whale watching which is just five miles from the hotel and also excursions to other attractions in the South.
