The Maldivian based Sun Siyam brands will be building their second hotel resort in Kalpitiya.
Sun Siyam Chairman and Managing Director, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, speaking at the Hospitality Conference (HICIO) in Colombo said they are also hoping to expand in the Maldives and other countries.
“In addition to the Sun Aqua Pasikudah, the first 100% Maldivian owned and operated resort on foreign soil, Sun Siyam will be developing an over water villa resort in Kalpitiya.”
The proposed 68 roomed, Sun Siyam Kalpitiya on Vellai island, is expected to be opened in 2017. This project comes at the perfect time for overseas expansion of Maldivian brands,” Siyam said. Sun Aqua Pasikudah consists of 34 suites and two Grand Beach Pavilions.
Their group’s next project is in Dhigurah Island in the Maldives and is a 600-room resort with 14 different room categories and more that than 15 F&B outlets. However one of the specialities in this project in Maldives is an underwater restaurant.”
“On completion, this resort will be the largest tourism offering in the Maldives, creating more than 2,500 jobs for the local Maldivian community.
Siyam is also an Executive Board Member of the Maldives Association of the tourism industry.
