The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo with the support of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau positioned Sri Lanka Tourism at ‘2020 Fukuoka Travel Exposition’ in Fukuoka which is around 1,200 km away from Tokyo. It is one of the biggest tourism events organised in Kyushu Island which was attracted several thousands. The event took place at the Elgala Hall in Fukuoka Metropolitan city on 8-9 February.
The Sri Lanka Embassy attended this festival for the first time and its tourism stall was attracted by many of the visitors. They were very keen to learn about Sri Lanka and explore in the future. Fukuoka Prefecture is the main city of Kyushu Island (third largest island of main five islands of Japan) with 5.1 million in population and surrounded by other prefectures such as Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima. Therefore, it was ideal to position Sri Lankan tourism in this regional capital with overall 13 million people.
The SriLankan Airlines office in Tokyo and Karunakarala Ayurveda Spa & Resort Sri Lanka voluntarily helped the Embassy stall in promoting tourism.
