Oak-Ray Regency, Deveni Rajasinghe Mawatha, Kandy is to add 30 deluxe rooms by the end of August this year.
The hotel owned and operated by Senani & Oak-Ray Holdings is also looking to be positioned as a three star plus property after the introduction of proposed rooms. In addition to this the management would be building a roof top swimming pool which would be a first for Kandy. Senani & Oak-Ray Holdings, Group Sales & Marketing Manager, Shantha Kumar speaking to Daily News Business said that they would also introduce an additional restaurant by the end of this year.
“The hotel was first started as a wood carving showroom 15 years ago and this was replaced by Oak-Ray restaurant and a banquet hall in response to the demands of the area. Subsequently Oak-Ray Regency launched with 20 rooms”, he said. “Due to our unique location in kandy at surrounded by breathtaking view of Sri Lanka’s famous Hunnasgiriya and Knuckles mountain range and also due to the high quality of service, the hotel today has five banquet halls, one restaurant, one Wood carving showroom and a Silk Gallery,” he said.
“We can accommodate up to 5,000 guests in our banquet halls which makes us the biggest banquet facility in one location. The company Senani & Oak-Ray Holdings, also has two Restaurants in Kandy and also in Galle, Ramboda, Matale, “he noted. Commenting further on their expansion plans he said that the Group Chairman/MD, Sujeewa Palliyaguruge, is now looking for a beach property with 60 to 70 rooms in Yala or Tissamaharama area.
“We will also invest to build 50 roomed three star hotel in Haputale. Our main idea is to build hotels in key tourist locations so that tourists would be able to explore Sri Lanka using our hotels network. Senani & Oak-Ray Holdings located in Kandy also own and operate, Senani Hotel, Senani Restaurant, Senani Silk, Isini Gems, Oakray Wood Carvings and Pelwehera Village Resort.
