SriLankan Airlines, the National Carrier of Sri Lankan and a member of the oneworld alliance, organised a familiarisation tour for a group of journalists representing leading publications in China.

With China being one of the Airline’s key markets, and one of the top tourism feeder markets of Sri Lanka, the Airline has been steering many initiatives to retain Sri Lanka’s appeal as a sought-after destination among Chinese travellers, post-Easter Sunday setback.

The touring journalists visited sites of cultural significance such as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, Temple of the Tooth Relic of the Buddha in Kandy, Lion Fortress of Sigiriya and the Dutch Fort of Galle, the much acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The trip included a visit to the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela, Minneriya National Park, lush tea gardens in the central hills and a city tour in Colombo. Whilst enjoying the picturesque beauty of Sri Lanka and the hospitality of the people, they were able to see that the country has returned to normalcy.

Chief Editor LUXURYTIMES magazine Lu Xiufang said, “Peace and tranquillity are the unique characteristics of Sri Lanka. There is no noise and rush, no struggles and panic. There are centuries-old ancient temples left by history and nature. Some are thousands of acres of tea gardens, and some are surrounded by green mountains. I invite everyone to come here to heal your anxious, restless soul. The people here are making a sunrise, and they are living in peace and quiet, living their ordinary life.”

The journalists expressed their fascination and love for the island, which they found tranquil and soothing for travellers longing for the ideal getaway to unwind themselves.

The touring journalists represented some of China’s leading publications such as LUXURYTIMES Magazine of BUYtime Media, the biggest high-end channel media operator in China concerning business journeys, Jiemian News, China’s influential original new financial media with over 8 million daily users, and Global Times, which has the largest circulation area in the East, North and South of China with a readership of over 10 million.
