More than 920,000 foreign tourists came to Sri Lanka this year so far, marking a revival in the tourism industry.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), 927,214 foreign tourists have visited Sri Lanka by September 6.

In the first six days of this month alone, a group of 22,896 tourists visited Sri Lanka and the number of tourists who came last August alone is 136,405, the SLTDA said. In 2022, 719,978 foreign tourists visited Sri Lanka and it is exceptional that more than 100,000 foreign tourists visited Sri Lanka in every month except May.

Around 27 percent of the tourists who came in the first six days of this month are from India and the number is 6,188. In addition, 1,693 tourists had come from the United Kingdom, 1,513 from Germany, 1,434 from Russia and 1,127 from Australia.
