For long admired as one of Colombo’s iconic buildings, the BMICH has today evolved as a magnificent venue for any event.
This very popular meeting venue recently christened its Committee Rooms with new names reflecting Sri Lankan nuances and local heritage primed in delivering a truly exceptional event experience.
Offering exceptionally versatile and impressive settings, the newly renamed BMICH venues are ideal for any occasion, from an intimate dinner to a lavish banquet, business conference or private wedding. The purpose built rooms have facilities to suit any setting that would enhance a variety of events.
Committee Room ‘A’ is now renamed ‘Jasmine’ and has a seating capacity for 450. Designed for seminars and conferences, event organisers can even elect to seat meeting participants on the balcony. The room has the facility for a stage with the head table accommodating a maximum of six individuals.
Formerly Committee Room ‘B’, now retitled the ‘Lotus’ can accommodate 400 participants in theatre style seating. Designed for seminars, conferences, workshops, performances and cocktail events, the head table will seat a maximum of ten individuals.
Committee Rooms C and D have been renamed ‘Lavender’ and ‘Orchid’ respectively. Each of these venues can accommodate 160 guests in an enclosed area of 1900 square feet. A variety of seating arrangements including theatre style, classroom, U shape, banquet style and for cocktails can be organised.
These well-proportioned rooms are ideal for seminars, conferences, workshops and dining facilities. The head table seats a maximum of eight people.
The smaller rooms ‘Tulip’ and Saffron, formerly Committee Rooms ‘E’ and ‘F’ are for smaller intimate gatherings such as seminars, conferences and workshops and can accommodate 75 participants with each holding a square area of 900 feet. These two venues also accommodate theatre style, classroom and U shape arrangements. All venues have access to the plush Committee Lounge.
The BMICH Committee rooms have additional facilities such as simultaneous interpretations in seven languages – ideal for any multilingual events organised by international companies.

Ample parking also enhances the venue’s accessibility. Organisers also have access to the BMICH’s exclusive catering partner, the Mount Lavinia Hotel, which provides five star culinary services to complement the location and the event.
