Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), with the assistance of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh successfully organised Sri Lanka’s participation at the Riyadh Travel Fair (RTF) 2018 with two Tourism Promotion Road Shows from 8 to 13 April. The promotions targeted tourists that would be travelling during the forthcoming annual vacation period of Saudi Arabia.
The delegation of Sri Lanka to the RTF included 15 private companies from the tourism and hospitality trade. Srilankan Airlines officials also joined the program. The Roadshows were held in Dammam and Riyadh on 8 and 9 April respectively, along with Business to Business Meetings and information sharing sessions with leading travel agency representatives and outbound tour operators.
Riyadh Travel Fair, which had been organised for the 10th consecutive year is one of the leading travel industry events attracting travel professionals and the general public in Saudi Arabia. Over 270 international exhibitors, representing more than 50 countries, took part in 2018 RTF.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh organised an interactive session for the visiting delegation with the assistance of Sri Lankan professionals from the Vision 2020 Promotion of Travel and Tourism Steering Committee (PTTSC) of the Embassy to share knowledge on the importance of the Saudi market and the future plans of PTTSC.
Last year, nearly 35,000 tourists from Saudi Arabia visited Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim attended all the above events and the Commercial Section of the Embassy, extended its fullest cooperation to the SLTPB and the Sri Lanka delegation to make the visit a success.
