Revamped Fisherman’s Bay opens on Nov. 1

The former Weligama Bay Beach, owned and operated by the Colombo Fort Hotels Limited has been rebranded as Fisherman’s Bay Weligama.

The hotel underwent a major refurbishment drive after the takeover and now it’s the biggest four star hotel in its region. The revamped Fisherman’s Bay Weligama will now open on November 1, after four months of shut down for renewal.

The refurbished Fisherman’s Bay Weligama will now comprise of 55 rooms. This includes 30 deluxe rooms and 25 superior rooms, with new furniture and interior, including brand new Flat Screen televisions, WiFi and Cable TV for each room. All bathrooms have been renovated according to new designs and trends.

 

Director Corporate and Marketing, Colombo Fort Hotels, M. R. Hassan told Daily News Business that a new batch of operational staff has been hired inclusive of some of the old staff, and in due course, a spa and gym will be added to the facilities at the hotel, with outsourced water sport services as well. Day tours and weekend packages will be arranged for locals.Fisherman’s Bay Weligama encompasses of a banquet hall which caters to 450 individuals, including a restaurant and bar titled Captain’s Deck, with the newly designed swimming pool.

“Now with just a two hour drive from Colombo to Weligama on the main highway, our hotel is located 10 minutes away from the Weligama exit. This region is well reputed and suitable for whale watching from December to April and the hotel also hosts excursions to Bundala,Yala and Galle.” Colombo Fort Hotels Limited also owns and operates Club Palm Bay, Marawila (171 rooms), Sigiriya Village Sigiriya (120 rooms), The Palms Beruwala (109 rooms) and Tea Plantation Bungalows in Haputale, Talawakelle and Kotagala.

He said that forward bookings for the hotel are very good and specially from the Chinese and European market and also plans to maximize round tours to cover the aforementioned hotels owned by the group.
