Aitken Spence Travels (Pvt) Ltd is delighted to announce the appointment of Suranga Ratnayake as Chief Operating Officer effective from 15 August 2022. Aitken Spence Travels, is Sri Lanka’s leader in the Destination Management industry, with an history spanning over 45 years and a strong presence in Maldives and Myanmar. Suranga’s appointment, Aitken Spence Travels is positioned to further fortify its market position and competitive edge. Aitken Spence Travels is part of Aitken Spence PLC, one of Sri Lanka’s largest conglomerates, which, over a rich history of 154 years has built dominant market positions and an extensive regional footprint across diverse businesses.

An industry veteran of over 25 years with extensive, multi-faceted experience in travel and leisure, Suranga has proven capabilities in driving strategy, business development, operations, and marketing. At Aitken Spence Travels, he has provided leadership to several diverse verticals, collaborated extensively with industry stakeholders in promoting Sri Lanka as a destination and played a vital role in developing strategic source markets.  

In this new role, he will be responsible for the overall management of operations under the leadership of Managing Director, Nalin Jayasundera. Suranga takes over from previous Chief Operating Officer, Tikiri Ellepola, who through his tenure of over 4 decades, played a vital role in driving the Company’s growth.
