Sri Lanka Tourism roams in Germany via bus advertising campaign

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has launched a global mega promotional campaign under the guidance of the Ministry of Economic Development, to increase awareness of destination Sri Lanka in countries around the world.

Taxi and bus advertising campaigns are a part of this tourism campaign and the targeted countries are the UK, Germany, France, Korea and Japan. Taxi advertising campaigns were already launched in UK, Germany and France featuring the key tourism attractions that are highly demanded by the travellers of those countries.

Being a major tourist generating market amongst the Europe markets, Germany has been focused on by SLTPB to carry out outdoor advertising campaigns to create more awareness as a favourable destination.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has branded 300 taxies in Germany in cities Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg and this campaign is planned for six months as part of a 1,200-taxi advertising campaign internationally.

In parallel to the taxi advertising campaign, SLTPB has launched a bus advertising campaign with the tagline ‘Sri Lanka, 2014 – A Journey Awaits’ in Germany. The campaign addresses the travelling public in Berlin and Frankfurt. In this campaign, 100 buses were branded, highlighting tourism themes such as wildlife attractions, pristine beaches, Ayurveda and surfing.
Advertising via public transport channels has been identified as an effective advertising method since they cater to the general public, resulting in huge exposure and impact. The impact of releasing all these eye-catching taxies and buses on the streets in Germany could be ensured by the increase of German tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka.
