‘Pulathisi’ luxury train to Polonnaruwa makes its debut today

 

Sept 11, Colombo: Pulathisi Intercity Express Train, a new S13 luxury train added to the Sri Lanka Railways recently will commence service today from Colombo to Polonnaruwa.

President Maithripala Sirisena will give the signal for the inaugural journey of the Pulathisi express train from platform 3 at the Fort Railway Station. The ceremony will take place at the Fort Railway Station from 2:30 pm onwards with the participation of the President.

The Pulathisi Express will commence its journey from the Fort Railway Station at 3:05 pm and reach Polonnaruwa at 7:47 pm. The Colombo bound train will leave Polonnaruwa station 3:45 pm reach Colombo Fort station at 9:08 pm.

The train will have one first class air conditioned compartment, one 2nd class compartment and three 3rd class compartmnets.

The new express train will stop at Colombo Fort, Polgahawela, Kurunegala, Maho Junction, Kekirawa, Kalawewa, Habarana and Hingurakgoda and Polonnaruwa stations.
