Koggala Beach Cabanas, new addition to largest family owned hotel chain

The Koggala Beach Cabanas opened its doors last month adding 20 luxury cabanas to the inventory of Tisara Hotels Group thus consolidating the groups’ position as the largest family owned hotel chain in Sri Lanka.

The Koggala Beach Cabanas built on a land belonging to the one km stretch of the Tisara Hotels Group which includes The Long Beach, Koggala Beach and Koggala Village which offers four star facilities.

All of the 20 deluxe rooms are with a sea facing private terrace and equipped with individual air conditioning with a temperature controller; telephone, free Wi-Fi, LCD plasma television with satellite connectivity, safety locker, electric kettle to boil water with tea or coffee making facility and mini bar. The deluxe rooms also accommodate attached bathrooms with 24hrs hot and cold water including hairdryer, bathtub, shower, washbasin and other such facilities.

General Manager of the Group, D. S. Premalal said that The Koggala Beach Cabanas main market comprises of UK, French and EU high end clientele. “We have being marketing this property from December 2014 and up to now have been maintaining high occupancies. We currently offer an introductory US$ 175 Bed and breakfast package until the end of April for both local and foreigners. Our aim is to market this hotel for US $300 and we have the facilities and the personalized service to compensate that rate.”

Premalal, who was in the group for well over three decades, said that tourist hotels were introduced to Koggala by the group almost four decades ago. “Today the group has over 500 star class keys and is one of Koggala’s finest star properties set amidst the one kilometre stretch of the South’s softest sands and beach front.”

Dining is offered at the sea fronted restaurant in an open area with a set menu or a la carte.

Sea fronted bar is another attraction of the property. The Spa Margosa features an exclusive range of therapeutic and soothing treatment designed for relaxations and rejuvenation from aches, pains and stress.

The Spa is located at The Long Beach Resort, which can be reached at a walking distance. The hotel was designed by Mohan Saparamadu.

Being a member of a large hotel chain, the guests could also use other facilities in the other three hotels and try out a number of daily excursions including trips to Yala, whale watching, Galle Fort, turtle hatchiers, Madul Duwa and other attractions to the South, including visits to tea factories.
