World famous hospitality brand Intercontinental is set to return to Sri Lanka mid next year to manage what is billed as the country’s tallest five star “Pearl Grand Tower Hotel.”

Intercontinental Group of Hotels (IHG) has about 800,000 guest rooms and 5,000 hotels across nearly 100 countries.

Pearl Grand Tower Hotel will be spread across 480,000 sq. ft. The structure rises up to 180m high, including 2 basement floors. The project is developed targeting the tourism industry of the capital of Sri Lanka. It is being facilitated with guest rooms, a banquet hall, swimming pool, restaurants, a bar and 360 degree viewing deck at the top as a highlight of the tower.

Pearl Grand Tower Hotel Ltd. Chairman A.L. Mohamed Faris said the concrete structure work of the project has been completed by China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd South Asia Branch/CCTEB.

“Pearl Grand Tower Hotel project is the tallest five-star hotel in Sri Lanka, and the location of the tower strengthens the project by providing a grand view around the city of Colombo as well as a marine view and transportation access as an added advantage. It’s a great honour to join hands with the world’s largest construction contractor and establish partnership. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the project construction team headed by the project director Wu Jie for their hardworking and great devotion to the project,” he added.

He said in January 2017, Wu Jie took the responsibility of the project construction works and  immediately reorganised & revised the project construction methods, which brought about fast reversion of the difficult conditions at the initial construction stage. Various kinds of resources have been organised, and construction works were arranged day and night. The project construction team introduced new construction methods to expedite the construction works, which contributed to the advance completion of the concrete structural works of the project.

“I am confident that this team will keep up pioneer spirits and high morale in the future construction of the project, and complete the balance works with quality ensured for perfect performance. In the meantime, I sincerely wish that CSCEC will achieve greater success in Sri Lanka and make further contributions to the construction of the ‘Belt and Road’,” Faris added.
