Uga Bay Passekudah and Jungle Beach Kuchchaveli, two elegant luxury beach resorts owned by Uga Escapes, share an outstanding reputation for comfort, cuisine, genuine hospitality and laid-back tropical-paradise charm. Now, TripAdvisor, the world’s most popular independent holiday-review web site, has made it official by awarding both hotels its 2014Certificate of Excellence.
The certificate, which honours excellence in hospitality and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews onTripAdvisor. At the time of writing, Uga Bay had 147 reviews on the site, of which a total of 131 rated the hotel ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’; for Jungle Beach, the numbers are 234 a and 216 respectively. V Visitors to both Uga h hotels praised their l location, the food, the f facilities and the f friendliness and prof fessionalism of the s staff. They also remarked on the properties themselves, with comments like ‘beautifully designed’ and ‘one of our best hotel experiences ever!’ being typical. Priyanjith Weerasooria, Managing Director of Uga Escapes, pointed out that Uga Bay and Jungle Beach are not only the top-rated hotels at their respective destinations, but are also the top-rated hotels on TripAdvisor for the whole of Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province. “What this shows, he said, is that Uga is not just about excellence, but about consistentexcellence. That’s our trademark”.
Uga Bay staff conducted a number of programmes for the students, of Hindu College, Valaichchenai including lectures and workshops on aspects of hotel and tourism management. Another recent beneficiary of the hotel’s efforts to improve education in the district is an orphanage known as Good Shepherd Convent, Valaichchenai. Recently, the Uga Bay team redecorated the orphanagefor Mothers’ Day, supplying the labour and materials themselves.
