Sri Lanka has suggested Kuwait based carrier Jazeera Airways to consider services to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) as well in the future apart from its current thrice a week flights to the Bandaranaike International Airport.
This request was conveyed by Civil Aviation Authority Director General and CEO Capt. Themiya Abeywickrama recently when Jazeera Airways Vice President of Ground Operations Naser F. Al-Obaid made a courtesy call.
The discussions revolved around the airline’s new business opportunities and the DGCA and CEO positively welcomed their proposals. The DGCA also suggested Jazeera to commence operations to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) which is gazetted for all Nine Traffic Freedoms and capable of servicing the largest aircraft in the world and also to start Hub Operations from MRIA to other regional destinations. The representatives were very keen on the suggestions and agreed to look into them favourably.
Jazeera Airways Assistant Vice President Rethah Al Mousawi, Manager (Air Services and Traffic Rights) Ishara Gunawardana and Local Representative Chaminda Silva were also present at the meeting.
