Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau organises first roadshow in Singapore

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau organised its first roadshow in Singapore last month to promote the island’s potential tourist industry partners. Over 15 industry partners joined with Sri Lanka Tourism to meet the potential agents and tour operators from both countries at the Hilton Hotel in Singapore on 8 July.

The objective of the event was to promote Sri Lankan tourism industry, and to offer a platform to exchange ideas, network, explore business prospects, and to promote the country to potential tourism industry stakeholders of tour operators and travel related agencies.

The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by invitees and industry members from Sri Lanka and Singapore. National Association of Travel Agents, Singapore (NATAS) President Devinder Ohri participated in the roadshow as Chief Guest and lighted the oil lamp with High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore Nimal Weeraratne.

Weeraratne delivered his welcome speech with a briefing on the Singapore-Sri Lanka bilateral relationship and benefits of operating a tourism business with Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Junior Manager Kalpa Gunasinghe addressing the audience detailed about Sri Lanka Tourism attractions and experience available in the country. He also highlighted the growth of tourism industry in Sri Lanka to support to achieve arrival targets in 2016.

15 trade participants from Sri Lanka were on hand to engage travel agents and tour operators in a B2B network session to exchange ideas and opportunities in a win-win situation that might make forays to a good working alliance.

During the event, the Sri Lanka Tourist Promotion Bureau presented insightful details to the audience the authentic, diverse and unique tourism products, attractions and wonders in Sri Lanka.

Over 40 travel companies from Singapore were present and had B2B meetings with the Sri Lanka Tour operators and hoteliers at the event.
