Aitken Spence Travels commenced a charter flight operation from Russia to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), enhancing connectivity between Sri Lanka and key Russian cities on the 28th of October 2024. The charter operated by Red Wings Airlines, will be operational every 10-days until April 2025, enhancing air connectivity for Russian tourists seeking an unforgettable Sri Lankan holiday.
The charter flights connect MRIA with major Russian cities, including Moscow, Novosibirsk, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Samara, and Kazan. By April 2025, the company expects to bring in over 33,600 Russian visitors, providing a notable boost to Sri Lanka’s tourism sector. Accommodation will be secured in over 200 hotels, with a focus on beach properties catering to the market requirements.
