Aitken Spence Travels trains Russian speaking youth as transfer guides

Aitken Spence Travels recently trained 16 Russian-speaking youth as transfer guides in a career guidance initiative designed to build language skills, cultural understanding, and professionalism within Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.

Over several months, the youth participants received intensive Russian language training, including guide ethics, sustainable practices in tourism and an understanding of standard operating procedures (SOP) of the company. Stepping out of the theoretical area, the program concluded with an immersive, two-day field trip to Ella and Galle, led by senior guides and Aitken Spence Travels staff. The objective was to give the trainees a first-hand experience and familiarize them on key tourist sites, the best practices to help them giving an exceptional guest experience while on tour.

The newly qualified guides are now equipped and well prepared to enhance the experiences of Russian-speaking visitors to Sri Lanka, embodying Aitken Spence Travels’ dedication to workforce development and sustainable tourism.
