First-ever South African tourism roadshow in Colombo today

South African High Commission together with South African Tourism, flags off its first ever tourism roadshow in Colombo, Sri Lanka, at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo Sri Lanka today.

The roadshow is scheduled to trigger an incredible start which will bring delegates from some of South Africa’s leading operators to exhibit their products and packages to both the local operators and potential travellers.

The roadshow will showcase for the first time several popular South African suppliers such as Your Africa, Royal African Discoveries, Albatross Travel, SABI SABI, African Hotels & Adventures and Three Cities Hotels, Zulu Nyala, Amakhala/Mantis collection, City Lodge Hotel Group, Private Safaris Destination Management, African Pride Tours and Cape Sidecar Adventures amongst many others.

South Africa is rapidly becoming an affordable destination with an abundance of natural beauty and amazing wildlife citing, with world class facilities, exciting adventure destination, excellent weather, all hosted by a diverse rainbow nation, experience the freedom struggle first hand and all this is embodied and underpinned by our responsible tourism policy.

Tourist arrivals to South Africa in 2014 grew by 4.9 percent over 2013 to reach 2,583,034.

The fastest growth came from Indian Ocean Islands and North America, based on these exciting figures, South African suppliers are excited and eager to establish new relations and networks with Sri Lankan tour operators.

South African Tourism Country Manager Hanneli Slabber said, “We are absolutely excited to view the potential of the Sri Lankan market we are putting in our best efforts to make the roadshow a success, we consider Sri Lanka also as a fast emerging strategic growth market for outbound travel and with the evolving outlook and preferences of Sri Lankan travellers, the South African tourism industry is focusing on the potential aspect of Sri Lankan market with marketing budgets and customized campaigns to reach out to the consumer segments”
