Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) President Jyoti Mayal yesterday affirmed the association’s commitment to further fortify tourism links and aid Sri Lanka in quickly recovering from its recent setbacks whilst expressing unwavering belief in the potential of Sri Lanka as a top tourist destination.
Speaking to the media ahead of the 67th TAAI Convention in Colombo, she highlighted collaborations and synergies are crucial elements for success in the tourism sector.
“It is crucial that we transcend from the past and focus on the future, as tourism thrives on creating connections and shared experiences. Tourism depends on building connections and sharing experiences. Through coordinated efforts, the industries of both Sri Lanka and India can overcome challenges and achieve mutual growth,” she said.
Mayal also outlined the necessity of strengthening bilateral relationships to facilitate borderless travel and ensure that member countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) could reap the benefits.
“Tourism is all about optimism, prosperity, and peace,” Mayal added.
She reiterated the need for collective action and collaboration to transform lives and revitalise the tourism industry.
“We need to further boost our efforts to foster bilateral relationships and enhance marketing strategies between India and Sri Lanka are crucial for revitalising the tourism sector,” she stressed.
Reflecting on the words of Henry Ford, she invoked the importance of unity and continued collaboration. The quote, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is a success,” resonated strongly with Mayal and served as a guiding principle for the TAAI’s efforts.
“The enduring value of Ford’s words underscores the relevance of collective action even today,” she pointed out.
Mayal said TAAI aims to evolve and foster strong partnerships not only locally but on a global scale by exploring new ventures and fresh destinations.
