Adventurous ‘Kalu’s Hideaway’

Kalu’s Hideaway’,one of the leading eco-friendly jungle re- treat hotels in Sri Lanka, was patronised by some of the leading ‘ travel agents’ from around the world, who visited the resort in Udawalawe recently.

‘It was a wonderful opportunity to have them at the Hideaway and experience the services’ said the former Sri Lankan cricketer, Romesh Kaluwitharana.

Kalu’s Hideaway offers a traditional Sri Lankan welcome followed by a variety of activities that you can experience. Breakfast by the poolside and the extensive lunch buffet offered with traditional and international cuisine by their experienced Chef Nero was a hit with these influential travel agents. The group enjoyed the many facilities the resort offer such as boating, fishing, cycling, and of course cricket, while the Calypso band played the best of the 70s and 80s.

‘We always used verities of organic fruits, vegetables and even traditional kakulu rice harvested from the Resort’s paddy fields’ added Chef Nero.

They were taken through an excursion to the Udawalawe National Park which is just five minutes from the hotel. Some enjoyed the natural beauty and the serenity surrounded by the hotel, while using the peddle boat in the near by stream.

The invitees enjoyed the rejuvenate spa treatments including traditional body and massages reflexology, manicure, pedicure and a dip in the pool. Set in a remote dry-zone village, just 15 minutes away from the gates of the Uda Walawe National Park, ‘Kalu’s Hideaway’ is a real hideaway from the busy city life.

There may be ample rustic charm in and around Kalu’s Hideaway, but its comfortable charm in the rooms are not found anywhere near to Wildlife Sanctuary.
