In 1973, the destiny of Sri Lankan tourism changed. From humble beginnings in the fishing town of Negombo, a small family owned company grew to be a pioneering force in the industry, and is now renowned the world over for its simple values and its promise of traditional Sri Lankan hospitality.
Jetwing Hotels is now the largest resort chain in the island, with over properties within the country. As befitting a reputation of excellence and being Sri Lanka’s premier hospitality brand, 5 Jetwing properties have been listed in the recently published Top 25 Hotels in Sri Lanka by TripAdvisor as part of their 2015 Travelers’ Choice Awards.

In first place comes the iconic Jetwing Vil Uyana, listed in National Geographic Traveler’s Best Ecolodges of the World issue in 2013. Now expanded to 30 dwellings, the manmade wetland is the perfect blend of luxury, comfort and nature. Jetwing Yala, launched almost exactly a year ago comes in at ninth place, with Jetwing Lagoon and Jetwing Lighthouse – two flagship properties of the brand being awarded 15th and 18th place respectively. Jetwing Beach rounds up the achievement by being placed 20th, marking Jetwing as the group with most properties (five of 25) on the list.
It doesn’t stop there, however. Jetwing Vil Uyana is also listed under Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Sri Lanka (No. 5), quite appropriately, Top 25 Hotels for Romance (No. 3) and also under Top 25 Hotels for Service (No. 14).

“We love it when a visitor comes to any of our properties and leaves with a smile, knowing that our service and our product is simple yet superior in every way. This is the basis behind our communication of a truly Sri Lankan brand that creates spaces; spaces in which to live, to enjoy, and experience the best the country has to offer. Through TripAdvisor, it’s refreshing to hear about different experiences, and our guests also provide us with comments that help us improve. My congratulations go out to all the other hotels that are on the Top 25 list, as it is through our efforts that Sri Lanka grows in stature as a favoured tourist destination,” said Hiran Cooray, Chairman of Jetwing.
