All passengers were requested to arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) 4 hours prior to departure from today (18) as delays could occur because of renovation due to take place at the BIA, Srilankan Airlines said in a travel alert yesterday.
Areas which come under the renovation work are given below.
Ground Floor
- Shifting the emigration counters to the first floor
- Installation of baggage counters and desks
- Extending baggage belt system
- Installation of staircase and passenger elevator and 02 Escalators
- Refurbishments of washroom
First floor
- Installation of steel deck
- Construction of toilets
- Installation of emigration counters
- Refurbishment of toilets
It informed that the renovation work could affect the services of the emigration counter located at the departure terminal of the BIA.
“Srilankan Airlines would like to express our sincere apologies for inconveniencing our passengers and appreciate your patience, understanding and usual co-operation under these circumstances that are beyond the control of the airline,” it said.
