Tapro Spa Resorts (Pvt) Ltd, Foot prints’ total Beruwela will invest over Rs. 175 million this year to introduce four suites and also for a minor refurbishment of the property placed in a picturesque location in Moragolla Beruwela. Overlooking the Indian ocean the hotel was acquired five years ago by Mackwoods Group, the second oldest company in Sri Lanka. Ever since then the hotel saw a major transformation of service standards which has attracted high end clientele as well.
“This was the main reason for us to invest on more suites. We were also debating if we were to convert this to an all-suite hotel. However if this was done we would have to increase our prices which would shun away our large repletes and make locals feel alienated,” said Senerath Devendra, Director/CEO.
He said that they already have two suites and would amalgamate two rooms and have four additional suites. Devendra said that the hotel is maintaining high occupancies y-o-y and their revenue targets have always being archived.
“Sri Lankan clientele has kept the hotel going during bad times and each year the hotel offers special offers during school holidays. This year’s offer is on where we give 40% off. This amazing discount would be on till the second week of May,” he added.
The main market of ‘Footprints’ is the German and the group was actively involved at the recently concluded ITB Berlin. “This is the best event to woo German and new markets from the Netherlands,” he also said.
Resident Manager, Amila Alwis said that with several four and five star hotels coming up in the area, this has given them additional business.
The hotel’s standing as a four star and this together with the brand image of TaproSpa, has always managed to maintain high occupancy. Alwis who had worked in the Maldives, UAE and five star properties in Colombo said that the friendly staff, large garden area and tranquility are some of the other plus points to the hotel.
The Spa is another attraction with the GYM – The avenge star is word 14 days and they have a strong repeat clientele some of whom have visited more then 15 times.
“Our Barman M. Wasantha has been with us for over two decades and he has shown great commitment as well as enthusiasm throughout. Staff gets an attractive service charge in excess of Rs. 25,000 per month during the season.
