Thambapanni Retreat boutique hotel, a hideout in Unwatuna, will open after a refurbishment around the end of July, this year. The company has invested over Rs. 50 million for this project. Managing Director of Thambapanni Leisure, Prashan Dissanayake, which also owns and operates the 16 room luxury Thambapanni Pavilion and the 24 room Tapropana Beach House, said that the Thambapanni Retreat property was 12 years old and badly needed a face lift.

He said that the property was also attracting high end clientele and hence, also took this opportunity to add more rooms and luxury amenities. “We completely re-did the bath rooms, introduced bath tubs to all the rooms and several other upgrades were done to the rooms.”

The pool area, reception and the restaurant were also re-laid to new designs and five additional rooms too were introduced, increasing the inventory to 24. “A Yoga Pavilion and a Spa too were added to the property.”

He said that with these developments they are in a position to increase the rates as they can now provide value for money.
