With arrival of the “Silver Spirit”, Aitken Spence Travels fulfilled its fourth cruise ship operation for the year 2022. Starting off the season, the company welcomed Norwegian ‘Viking Mars,’ on the 18^th of November, followed by German ‘TUI Mein Schiff 5,’ on 29^th of November and the ‘Azamara Quest’ on 03^rd December with a combined number of 5,000 guests.

The ports of Colombo, Hambantota, and Trincomalee have been used for the cruise calls and some of the captains have given incredible testimonials about how beautiful our ports are for shore excursions. offering excursions exclusively to passengers in stepping ashore, Sri Lanka did not fail to excel its hospitality with warm smiles, extra-ordinary cuisine, and tropical vibe across the country. 

Covering locations across west, south and east, Aitken Spence Travels offered Colombo city tours, Tuk-tuk tours, Muthurajawela boat safari tours, Kelaniya temple, Agro village, Tea plantations, Sigiriya by air taxi, Kandy and Galle day tours, Madu ganga river safaris, Trincomalee day tours, Dambulu viharaya, Polonnaruwa, Minneriya national park, Yala national park, Bundala, Udawalawa elephant transit home and cultural shows to the holidaymakers. The excursions were designed to create memories in Sri Lanka through experiences with culture, cuisine, architecture, heritage, and way of life.

In the coming months, Aitken Spence Travels will welcome 19 other cruise calls and end the cruise season by May 2023. Cruise calls of this nature are an important element of tourism to Sri Lanka as stakeholders such as the transporters, hoteliers, wildlife parks, jeep drivers, excursion providers, cultural show artists, guides etc. all stand to benefit whilst also allowing indirect suppliers to benefit economically. We will continue to make significant efforts to promote destination Sri Lanka, with the goal of energizing tourism for a brighter future in Sri Lanka.
